Hidden Allusions in Shakespeare's Plays: A Study of the Early Court Revels and Personalities of the Times
Published in Hardcover by Associated Faculty Pr Inc (November, 1976)
Author: Eva Lee Turner Clark
Average review score:

Masterpiece
Ever read something in Shakespeare and think, "Now what does THAT mean?" She's got the answer. Those little in-jokes are finally explained. "You are a fishmonger." If you think the glover's son from the boondocks wrote the Plays, you'd be in the dark forever as to what Hamlet meant. If you think that the Plays were written by the Earl of Oxford, the answer is plain as day. And so on. A play-by-play exegesis of unexplainable passages; it's as if the Earl himself is explaining "what he meant."

I bought this book from the publisher, via the Shakespeare-Oxford Society. I don't think I paid as much; seek them out.

This book should be in every library in creation. And your personal one.

High Heat: Grilling and Roasting Year-Round With Master Chef Waldy Malouf
Published in Hardcover by Broadway Books (May, 2003)
Authors: Waldy Malouf and Melissa Clark
Average review score:

My New favorite Grilling Book!
This book is great. I own several grilling books and am always sad when winter comes (I live in the Northeast) and I have to put them away when I cover up the grill. But not this year! Waldy Malouf's book will take me into winter because all the recipes work in the oven as well as on the grill. So it's like getting two for one.

To be totally honest I shouldn't give this book 5 stars yet because I've only used the grilling recipes, but everything I've tried has been fantastic, and better, is EASY. The balsamic chicken is amazing, and the lamb with olives my new favorite party entree and the tuna came out perfectly, covered in this herb oil and very moist. It's a terrific book and I hope he writes another one soon.

The Higher Education System: Academic Organization in Cross-National Perspective
Published in Hardcover by University of California Press (June, 1983)
Author: Burton R. Clark
Average review score:

Model of coordination: the state, market & academics
The triangle of coordination formulated by the author, Burton Clark, is influential that changing relationships between the state, market and academic oligarchy can be analyzed and compared more systematically across different countries. This model has been modified and developed by a number of scholars and researchers that Clark's model has become a classic in the field of higher education studies. Clark accurately points out that market becomes an important factor shaping the development of higher education systems in different countries, for instance, the United Kingdom, the United States, Australia and even Hong Kong. Based on this analytical framework, there has been a new balance between the state, market and academic oligarchy. In the era of globalization, higher education moves towards a new mode of management which has been commonly known as new managerialism or New Public Management, which replaces the tradition of collegiality inherited by the academic community. By all these, Clark's book is so stimulative that enlightens our research on the changing nature of higher education in the post-modern, globalizing society.

A History of Kentucky
Published in Hardcover by Jesse Stuart Foundation (December, 1992)
Author: Thomas Dionysius Clark
Average review score:

THE PLACE to begin Kentucky history.
Although this book was published more than 60 years ago -- and has been updated several times since then -- it is THE PLACE to begin if you are curious about Kentucky's fascinating -- and often tragic -- history. Although "A New History of Kentucky" is more current and is quite good, Clark's book is essential for understanding the Bluegrass State and how it has evolved. Clark's book also gives you a deeper appreciation of "A New History" and helps you understand some of the finer points of that book as well. Clark is a first-rate historian, but he also is a wonderful story-teller as well. He weaves a compelling story about Kentucky as a place full of optimism, corruption, idealism and missed opportunity. He captures some of the commonwealth's more colorful figures without deifying anyone or losing focus. Trying to understand Kentucky without reading Clark is not unlike trying to comprehend Rome without reading Gibbon or England without reading Churchill.

The Holy Spirit
Published in Paperback by Trinity Foundation (August, 1993)
Authors: Gordon H. Clark and John W. Robbins
Average review score:

A clear, concise statement of the nature of the Holy Spirit
Gordon Clark was one of the most eminent Christian philosophers, theologians, and educators of the twentieth century. In this book, he has clarified an often misunderstood subject--the nature of the Holy Spirit--and thereby done a great service to all who read this book. What is more, although this is not light reading, Clark has made the many facets of this subject accessible to all who want to know more about the third Person of the Trinity (and what serious Christian doesn't)? Highly recommended.

Hormones or Natural Alternatives? Exploring All Your Options at Menopause
Published in Paperback by Creative Publishing International (01 June, 2003)
Author: Jan Clark
Average review score:

At long last! A readable book on HRT and its alternatives
A friend sent me a copy of this book from the USA. It really made me think about HRT.
The author has set it out so clearly, with personal examples and lots of bite-sized information. I really liked this, as so many books have too much info in long paragraphs. She asks the reader to consider if she's at risk of certain conditions e.g osteoporosis, whereas lots of books and magazines seem to say all of us women are going to become osteoporotic. As well, there's valuable info about HRT and diabetes, bowel cancer, breast cancer and Alzheimer's disease.(I was amazed to read the research about the latter)
The alternatives part was very revealing, I had no idea menopausal symptoms could be helped by herbal remedies and acupuncture.
It's informative, practical, and accessible. It really helped me make a decision about whether or not to try HRT.
Must mention the layout and photos - they are fabulous!
